À travers l’analyse des politiques de l’immigration en Europe, aux États-Unis et en Australie, cet ouvrage cherche à démontrer les frontières physiques et métaphoriques qui séparent les citoyens des migrants, des ‘faux’ chercheurs d’asile des ‘vrais’, des immigrés ‘légaux’ de ceux qui seraient ‘illégaux’… Loin de considérer l’immigration comme un problème, les collaborateurs de cet ouvrage considèrent que ce sont les barrières à l’immigration qui posent question dans la mesure où elles favorisent la marginalisation, la criminalisation, voire la mort, de ceux qui cherchent à trouver une vie meilleure ailleurs. Par conséquent, ces barrières cachent les avantages économiques, culturels et sociaux que l’immigration pourrait apporter aux pays d’accueil.
